Shawn Postell
Shawn Postell has been living in the Green Bay area since 1982. He attended UW-Green Bay and majored in music education. Mr. Postell has an extensive background in music education and music theater, as well as music composition, arranging, and orchestration. In the spring of 1983 Mr. Postell founded Bay City Swing, a regional big band in Northeast Wisconsin; he was also a founding member of the Premier Brass Quintet while in college. Shawn Postell has a proven record of excellence with professional performance groups; as a free-lance trumpet player, he has played for national artists that include Lee Greenwood, Bobby Vinton, Red Skelton, Roberta Flack, Melissa Manchester, Aaron Neville, and many others. He was a member of the Green Bay Packer Band and was the leader from 2014 until 2017. He was a member and assistant conductor of the CP Telethon Orchestra and is currently the principal trumpet and staff arranger of the Green Bay City Band. Shawn is also the staff arranger for several other city bands throughout Wisconsin, writing custom arrangements for their summer concert seasons. He has performed in more than 120 musical productions at a variety of levels over the past 35 years.
Shawn has a solid reputation as an arranger, composer, and orchestrator and has written arrangements for elementary, middle school, high school, and professional jazz bands, concert bands, choirs, and orchestras throughout the United States. Arrangements by Shawn have been performed in New York, Florida, Minnesota, California, and throughout Wisconsin. In 2013, he started Encore Music LLC, a music publishing and live entertainment business. In 2017, he was hired as the Music Director/Arranger for the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center’s national- affiliated program “Center Stage Awards." In 2018, Shawn founded the Cornerstone Jazz Orchestra, a project he continues to develop. In 2019, Shawn was recruited to help judge student compositions for the Wisconsin State Music Association's (WSMA) Composition Project.
